Occupying an old palatial house, the hotel is owned by a family that’s been in the marble business for generations hence its use of fine Portuguese marble. The Marmoris was designed by Miguel Cancio Martins, and exudes a sense of comfort and tranquillity despite its contemporary aesthetic.

What room should we get?


The hotel has 39 rooms and 5 suites, all of which are spacious, have private balconies, and tastefully decorated. There are options for family rooms and non-smoking rooms as well. The Superior Deluxe rooms which are located at the ground floor, however, offer a great view of the swimming pool from the balcony.

Where do we eat?


The Marmoris has an on-site restaurant that offers the best of Alentejo’s cuisine with a modern twist courtesy of Chef Alexandre Silva, and uses fresh produce from the surrounding fields of Vila Viçosa. Breakfast is absolutely free, and there are a plethora of options available every day. If you’re travelling with the whole family, it’s worth noting that the staff is more than willing to prepare fresh baby food for your tiny tots!

If you’re looking to unwind, you can head out to the Stone Spa, which is carved out from a marble quarry that displays authentic stalactite formations and has four treatment rooms with heated pools donning a hydrotherapy circuit.

There are also other activities available for hotel guests such as wine tasting and a tour of the marble quarries. And of course, with the Marmoris being family-friendly, you can also stop by their kids’ room that’s full of fun activities for children of all ages.
