Style
The design of Sala Lodges came with a mission: to preserve the architectural style of Khmer houses for future generations to learn from. The property contains traditional wooden houses on stilts arranged to look like a miniature village, surrounded by trees and other native flora. Each house is adequately spaced from one another, preserving a sense of community while ensuring privacy.
What room should we get?
There are eleven lodges available for guests that all come with a private balcony and a minibar. Each house is built differently and comes with its own story, giving a warm and intimate ambience. Its communal areas are contemporarily designed, providing a nice contrast to the traditional aesthetic of the houses.
The number 5 Bram is most notable, as it is a reconstruction of the house of Sala Lodges’ former owners: Neth Hour and Sos Soeun. This lodge features a private bathroom with a rain shower, and offers a great view of the surrounding sights.
Where do we eat?
Sala Lodges offers free breakfast and there are two on-site restaurants to choose from, that both serve amazing local cuisine. There’s also a bar when you can grab a couple of drinks from and enjoy the evening. However, if you’re looking for more options, there are lots of restaurants nearby with L’atelier, Haven, and La Kh’mere Poulart being the top recommendations.
What else should we check out?
This quaint hotel will really make you feel at home as there’s a laundry and dry cleaning service available. The property also has a pool, if you ever feel like going for a quick swim. There are nearby attractions in the area that’s also worth visiting such as the Georges Distillery that has Rum Tasting tours.
Siem Reap’s Sala Lodges is an absolute gem. Look no further if you’re searching for something enriching yet unconventional when you’re in town!
